Google Cloud adds MCP server support for Security Operations agents

Google is making a real push to own the agentic layer in enterprise security. MCP server support for Google Security Operations is now generally available — meaning security agents can connect to external tools and data sources through a standardized protocol, rather than through brittle one-off integrations. Three new agents covering threat hunting, detection engineering, and third-party context ship with it, and customers can build their own on top. The bet: if Google controls the protocol and the platform, the agents that run on it follow.

Google Cloud announced that remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server support for Google Security Operations is now generally available, and MCP server client access is available in preview directly from the Security Operations chat interface. MCP is an open protocol that standardizes how agents connect to external tools and data sources. Additionally, three new security agents were announced for Google Security Operations covering threat hunting, detection engineering, and third-party context — and users can now build their own security agents using these MCP servers.
