Amazon Quick Agentic AI Expands to AWS GovCloud US-West

Federal AI adoption has always lagged commercial because the compliance burden was too high. AWS just removed a chunk of that friction: Amazon Q's agentic capabilities are now live in GovCloud (US-West), a FedRAMP High environment that satisfies DoD SRG Impact Levels 4 and 5, ITAR, CJIS, and FIPS 140-3. Government teams can now build agents that actually take actions on procurement, ATO compliance, and grants workflows, with inference staying inside the isolated region and least-privilege access keeping analysts inside their data lanes. AWS has made Amazon Quick's agentic AI capabilities available in AWS GovCloud (US-West), a FedRAMP Class D (formerly High) authorized environment designed for U.S. government and regulated-industry workloads. The expansion means government teams can now build custom chat agents tailored to mission-specific workflows such as procurement, ATO (Authorization to Operate) compliance, and grants management. These agents can take actions, not just answer questions, and all data stays within the isolated GovCloud region.
The offering integrates with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and OneDrive via GCC High connectors, and enforces least-privilege access so analysts only see mission-relevant data. Inference on approved foundation models runs entirely within AWS GovCloud (US-West), meeting compliance requirements including DoD SRG Impact Levels 4 and 5, ITAR, CJIS, and FIPS 140-3. Amazon Quick's agentic capabilities are now available across eight AWS regions total.
